Home Care vs. Home Health Care: What's the Difference?

Families often hear both terms, but they describe different kinds of support.

Home care

Home care focuses on non-medical daily support such as companionship, personal care, meal preparation, reminders, mobility assistance and light housekeeping.

Home health care

Home health care generally refers to skilled medical services such as nursing or therapy that may be ordered by a medical provider.

Which one does your family need?

If your loved one mainly needs help with everyday routines, companionship or personal support, non-medical home care may be a good fit. If skilled medical treatment is required, a home health provider may be more appropriate.
